Spreading the Message of FIRST

The Omnicats believe that representing and giving students within our community the opportunity to have access to robotics and to FIRST is just as important as preparing for the competition. Our first project took place at Grand View Elementary School, a Title I school. At Grand View Elementary, we taught children the basics of Gracious Professionalism by demonstrating respectfulness during teamwork sessions while giving these children a hands on experience with robotics. We also host a large amount of VEX scrimmages. In the summer, we offer FLL and VEX summer camps for elementary and middle school students. Through these programs and initiatives, our team strives to embody the messages of both First Robotics and Windward School.

Sponsors

One of the major barriers to maintaining a robotics team is financial support. Fortunately we have three gracious sponsors who have devoted their time, effort, and funds to support our team. Our team is sponsored by The Boeing Company, The Windward Institute, and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and Jill Petty. These sponsors have financed and supported our team and have allowed us to not only compete but also spread the message of FIRST. We are very grateful for every one of the sponsors and the support that they show for our team.

The Boeing Company, founded in 1916, is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems. They play a large part in sponsoring FRC teams and competitions around the world.

We are grateful to the Boeing company for their continued support of our robotics team and our school's STEAM program Boeing believes in the positive influence that exposing young adults to the STEM fields can have. Boeing supports their belief by donating to Team 1452 every year. In addition to all of this, Boeing offers a coveted seven to eight week internship during the summer after junior year to many Windward students who are highly involved in the Windward community to give students the opportunity to see a job in the STEM field in application.

Windward Institute is a proud sponsor of the Omnicats. The Institute's objective is to reach out to the school's community and make a vast amount of unique educational endeavors possible. The institute does this in order to provide Windward students with amazing opportunities that give them skills that they will use in their futures.

Windward School is a dynamic college-preparatory school that challenges each student to achieve excellence in a nurturing, inclusive community. Our teachers and administrators work together to both challenge students and foster an inclusive academic environment that encourages students to become successful adults. Windward School is also the institution that is home to the Omnicats robotics team.

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and Jill Petty
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and Jill Petty were the first sponsors of the Windward Omnicats. This generous and kind couple believes in the power that robotics has to influence high schoolers' decisions to pursue careers in STEM fields in their futures. Throughout our team they have wholeheartedly supported us and we are very grateful for this support.
